Emily Steenburgh began dance classes at Myers Ballet School at the age of five. She performed annually in the Northeast Ballet production of The Nutcracker from 1994 to 2005 dancing in the roles of gingerbread, party girl, Russian doll, confections, marzipan, snow, flowers, Russian, and party scene. She also performed in a number of the Company's works including Stories that Dance, Melodies of Christmas, and Myers Annual Spring Concert. Emily attended the University of Maine where she received training in classical ballet, modern, jazz, choreography, improvisation, and dance composition. She performed with the UMaine Dance team for two years at football and basketball games. In 2010 Emily attended workshops at Boston University at the American College Dance Festival. After graduating with a B.A. in Sociology and minor in dance, she moved back to Schenectady and began dancing with Northeast Ballet Company as a party lady in 2011 and joined Myers Ballet School staff in 2012. She has since received her M.S. in Occupational Therapy and is working as an Occupational Therapist at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady. She currently teaches ballet and Modern at Myers Studio and serves as a rehearsal assistant to Northeast Ballet Company.
